about

Anantatā (Navajīvana) is a collection of twelve musical compositions conceived for looping playback by a new electronic musical instrument designed by the composer – the Space Regenerator. The Space Regenerator is a small, custom-built instrument containing an embedded computer system that loops each composition infinitely and amplifies the sound playback in stereo. The instrument and works were created for the Instruments India Composition Commission sponsored by Liverpool Hope University and Milapfest. As part of the commission, the composer was granted access to a recorded sound library of traditional Indian instruments played by Indian classical musicians. Using only sounds from this library, he created new music in the form of short electronic miniatures intended to be repeated or performed as loops (mantras or prayers).

For optimal listening experience, users are encouraged to take these sound files and loop them seamlessly (playing the audio back infinitely in repeat). For clarity, the pieces in this collection are sequenced alphabetically. However, users are encouraged when looping individual compositions to work through the collection in a random order.
